big box stores

Survived IKEA, barely.

We were sitting there amongst the big boxes waiting for Pat to collect something from the desk. The grandchildren were draped all over the place like those persistent watches. Tater commented it was like COSTCO. I replied that at COSTCO, at least, you got free food all over the place and a good hotdog at the end.
We did get a good deal in the clearance room on a kitchen island that will fit and we know we're going to have to go back at least once and probably twice. I think it would be worth it to take a day off in the middle of the week for the next trip. The Saturday crowds truly make me ooey.

  1. The rule for Saturday shopping excursions here--which are rare anyway--is to get to the store when it opens and never, never stay later than noon. That's when most people finally bestir themselves to head out to the malls, etc. It's insane to be out on the roads at that time.
    Finally warmer here. BB

  2. That is a good rule, however, as usual, Pat had to do things before we could go so we got there at the height of insanity. We did decide the next time we went, we would leave between 6-7am on a Friday, our only consistent day off and we know exactly what we need. Of course, now that I think about it, he's working the next couple of Fridays. I could go by myself, but only if the IKEA people will help me load things. They have become almost as non-helpful as the people at Lowes Lumber.
