Wright or wrong?

I don't know. This is an old debate. And something we've been discussing for the past couple of years.
A friend sent this link.

We like the house, it suited the site and we changed the design to suit our needs.

  1. Didn't y'all get your plans from the foundation? I notice the date on the article is almost a year ago so when did they make the decision to stop selling the plans?
I guess the preceived problem for the foundation is with people using the plans, modifying them and then telling people they have a FLW house--when really they don't.
They have a FLW "inspired" house. BB

  2. A FLW "instpired" house is exactly what we have. If we'd gone with a plan from the foundation the costs would have skyrocketed. 25K for the plans and then you have to pay to have a consultant fly out on a regular basis to make sure you're not messing with the master's vision.
We did it the way most people do it. Find a suitable house and mesaure the rooms.
It's cheaper the way we do it, and we modified the house to suit us.

I'm sure the ugly solar panels wouldn't have flown with the foundation.
